my week in objects (mostly).

March 12, 2021

1. these bodega daffs.

{had to be done.}

2. this wonky basket.

{because i made it.}

3. these old magnet letters.

{and a place to stick them.}

4. this hand-stitched curtain.

{hanging on a wall.}

5. this pen and paper.

{and scratching things off lists.}

other things:

quite a ride to nowhere.

without the simple, basic, fundamental comfort of being held.

two lines moving in different directions.

relief.

weaving notes.

in case you missed it: listen.

it feels obscene to worry about deadline.

byproducts.

    As soon as I saw Relief.. I knew it was the child tax credit.
    And yes.. Byproduct .. I Recycled everything pre pandemic.. never used paper .. never bought plastic bags etc.. but just couldn’t manage with the stress of the pandemic. I would try periodically and just feel a wave of dread about how to handle and store and clean more items. So soon I’ll be wending my way back to recycling. It’s a real shame.

    The curtain looks marvellous! Any chance of a diy tutorial? (Not to put pressure or be demanding or anything… curiosity cat and longtime admirer of your many projects speaking here!)

    Fast company article, achingly familiar. Rural life in the woods version would include the feelings of guilt for having so much space, the stress of watching people flee to your area, further guilt for being selfish with your aforementioned abundant of space, and lots of days and nights thinking about the lifetime of privilege that allowed you to choose this isolated life. “You wonder why you seem to have more or less kept it together, emotionally. You realize it’s because you have money… You angrily remember how lucky you are for the millionth time.” Thanks for sharing.
