james is off on a sea turtle adventure. yup. that’s what the boy does. he chases sea turtles. big, giant, gnarly leatherback sea turtles. ok, i guess he does more than just chase, but they certainly can give him the run around. he’s been supposed to leave all summer, but the big mommas have been making their way northward slowly, and so it wasn’t until tuesday that he could finally go up to nova scotia.
the last time we moved, james had to leave to chase turtles in georgia the day after, so i guess this is an improvement. but here i am, nesting by my lonesome. only it’s not so lonely. for the first time in years i live close by to my family. yesterday my mom drove up to keep me company and help me hang photos (i hung one by myself today, and of course, it’s all wonky).
and sometimes having some quiet time is nice anyway. tonight i ate tomatoes with sugar and crunchy beans, just cause i could. in a few minutes i will devour a pint of ben and jerry’s. and when i fall asleep i will sprawl myself out across the middle of the mattress with the fan pointing directly on me, because really, it’s too hot to do anything else.
this photo is of the two of us in st. croix. i got to tag along on that turtle adventure! we look a little crazed, but we’re next to a dinosaur, can you blame us?
here’s hoping the turtles are friendly for jameson. xo.

Awww! I'm so glad you are close to family. That can make all the difference in the world 🙂 Happy nesting!
Wow, your sweetie pie has a cool job! The turtle is the photo is AWESOME — I actually just assumed it was a rock until you said something. Holy smokes, he's BIG!
What a cool photo!!
That is one gigantic turtle!! As cute as it is, I think I might be intimidated if I should ever come face to face with one!! 🙂
you guys are so awesome….and such beautiful people! I love the big gigantor turtle next to you…..what a beauty!
so glad you are close to family and that your mom can come just to hang out….xo
your james has an amazingly cool job! chasing sea turtles?! wow. though not really the same, it reminds me of my trip to maui last year where I go to swim/snorkel with sea turtles! I was scared at first of the big "dinosaurs" but then I was fascinated! such beautiful creatures.
anyhoo, I live very close to my parents still, about 15 minutes, so when I have moved apartments my mom also comes over to help me hang things and such. that's what moms are for, right? 🙂
enjoy your ben & jerry's!
What incredible experiences he must be having! I learned about the negative impact had on today's sea turtle population when I went to Costa Rica. It's seriously sad.
Hello 🙂
I like that photo. I also like how you are utilizing your time alone. Whenever my boyfriend goes away, I relish eating what I fancy too ~ the things he doesn't tend to like. It feels almost indulgent and certainly a lot of fun!

What an incredible thing to do for a living! Love the photo, btw. That must have been one of the best experiences of your life!
you two are so gorgeous and i can't believe the size of the sea turtle. it's great to see it in comparison. enjoy your quiet time making your new place your new home.
wow sea turtle! what a unique passion! i know how you feel…i've basically been left to do all the moving/nesting by myself while my guy is off at work. but so lucky your parents are nearby. my mom wants to come and help but can't work out getting to me.
What an amazing photo! I love it! So happy you have family nearby too. xo
that is such a cool photo, and you two look super happy not crazed at all! it makes me smile.
I think it's so cool that James does this! And I also think it's cool that you make plans with Ben & Jerry.
