we just got back from our first real day on the beach (not having a real job has to be good for something, right?) and i’m kind of thinking that i might be digging some of the vintage-inspired swimsuits that i’ve seen pop up this season.  i haven’t been totally sure about them, but they might help in my new resolution not to let myself crisp up quite so much this summer (who wants tan lines up to their belly button?). and i mean look at this gal, is she fierce or what?

james: this should not be taken to mean that i will also become a surfing superstar. note that she is posing with the board in the sand, not in the water. i’ll be taking my cues from her in more ways than one.

I am so with you on the vintage-inspired swim suits. They seem to just ooze classical elegance and need to be paired with a big floppy hat and a striped beach umbrella.

I too love vintage swimsuits (oh but of course!). The picture you picked is a wonderful epitome of a woman conquering a then-male dominated sport (even if she was just in the sand!)

If you find a good place to buy some, you should post links. I love the one piece black and polkadotted ones at modcloth: http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Swimwear

    Tres cute.

I just saw a layout of vintage inspired suits in, I think, Glamour mag — they are so pretty! Makes me actually WANT to go swimsuit shopping, haha.
