i’ve been doing a lot of biking around the city lately (though a busted wheel this weekend slowed me down a bit). with all of this exploring, i’m in the market for a simple and lightweight backpack to tool around town with. this morning, these organic canvas packs from barnacle bags struck my fancy. simple and sweet. what do you think? do you use a backpack?

if you are really going to be doing a lot of biking, especially now that summer is coming, i recommend getting a basket or pannier. i nixed a backpack a long time ago because it makes my back too sweaty.

I have the cutest insulated bag that clips in on the handle bars. It has handles and doubles as handbag when the bike is chained up. I used a cloth backpack last time we road our bikes in the city and one strap kept slipping down almost off my shoulder….I didn't like that! What I do like about the barnacle bags, shown in this post, is that they are light weight and would feel so good while out for a walk exploring neighborhoods!! Hands are free to take photos or carry some yummy food found along the way.

i love the top one. i'm a big fan of the backpack – especially when travelling since two free arms are always better than one 🙂

I like these! I've been on a year long search for a backpack and haven't found one that is a) just right and b) not $500. I sometimes just want one that I can walk to work with instead of my purse but I don't want to look like I'm in high school again.

precisely the problem! flashback to erin circa 2000. but i feel like one of these would solve all that!

    I love 'em.

Yes, I use a backpack especially during travel. I'm always looking for something cute but strong enough to hold my camera gear but doesn't look like it's holding gear…

exactly. wore my camera strapped around my shoulder last weekend and was certain at any moment i'd crash and break everything–camera included.

Yes! "Word" on what you & Stacey said above! I was hiking this weekend with my camera strap choking one side of my neck & my crossbody bag choking the other. Haha. An elegant picture, I'm sure. I instantly went on the search for a cute backpack. These are adorable!

I bike with a backpack too! But not one nearly as cute as this. Mine is just a simple navy drawstring bag.
But these backpacks are wayyy adorable! I've pinned this backpack a while ago, and the first picture you have there reminds me of it. Except a lot more practical for bike riding and a lot cuter.

nice. i snagged this one from brook farm general store a while back and love it so. perfect and roomy biking to the farmer's market, a picnic, anything.

These bags are adorable! I especially love the striped grey one. They look roomy but also pretty compact. Great find!

These are great! I have a school/camping backpack that is great to ride with when I need to carry things, but I feel so nerdy once I am off my bike. I need something more transitional that will serve me as a pedestrian in NYC as well. Thanks for the tip!
