the waterfront barge museum anchored in red hook is one of the contenders (more about my favorite destination neighborhood here and here). we stopped by to say hello on a lazy sunday, but we hear that on some nights, the whole barge gets a shakin’ with contra dancers. yeehaw. if you’re a fellow lover of places creaky and old in new york city, hop over and cast your vote.
