my week in objects (mostly).

May 17, 2013

five little things that made my week.

1. these forget-me-nots.forget-me-nots {because they’re transplanted from connecticut and doin’ just fine}.

2. this earl grey.
earl grey {because it’s much fancier than i usually buy, but an emergency tea stop meant fancy tea}.

3. this tiny herb garden.
shade herbs {because i finally figured out which herbs can thrive on a low-light windowsill. more here}.

4. these loppers.
loppers {borrowed. and used to take the little shade garden out front to the next level}.

5. this posy.
posy {because even though i didn’t photography it before it got droopy, it was nice to have all week long}.

other things:
this dungaree dress.
photos by snail mail.
this perfect pencil case.
this little round collar.
these ferns.
midsummer!

things by me in other places:
herbs that can grow (almost) anywhere.
considering the fiddle leaf fig.
lilacs.
shaking things up.

I like these pictures, especially the herb garden. Cultivating a garden is one of the things I miss about living in a house, since I can't have one in my apartment building.

I love your articles at Gardenista! I'm trying my luck at indoor plants this year, and so far they are doing really well except there are these little blackish flies that goes around them. Do you know of a remedy to get rid of them?

Thanks for the tips about growing windowsill plants! In my tiny apartment there are few places for plants to live besides the windowsills, so maybe I can have a little garden of my own after all!

    Lovely photos, as always.

Oh I'm so glad you've figured out the herb thing! It'll save me the heartache of guessing myself and sacrificing so many herbs of my own!

Hi, just wondering what that bottle is with the fancy brass top (pictures near your herb garden?)? Is it a spray water bottle for your plants? Is it glass?
I would love to see a post about all of the plastic alternatives you have! The only spray bottles I've found in Australia are plastic. Even your enamel footbath recently pictured was gorgeous; again I have only seen plastic! You manage to find really great stuff!
