A salad that withstands transportation, a picnic blanket for perching, and a willingness to walk a few blocks and sit among strangers is happily all we need to enjoy summer here.
The movie series at Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of my very favorite things about summer in this city and it makes heat waves and crowds and tiny apartments feel totally worth it. Two weeks ago we watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with about 1 billion other people. During the parade scene, the entire lawn stood up to dance along to Twist and Shout. If that doesn’t make you grin, I’m not sure what will.
More park love, here.

Fantastic! I love movies at the park š What a wonderful way to spend a summer evening!
That salad looks a-mazing. I need to find some good corn…
Ah! Is there anything more summery than watching movies in the park? I don't think so. I am definitely living my New York dreams vicariously through your adventures.

I love when communities play movies for the general public to come and watch!

Ah! Thank you for reminding me! We put this on our summer bucket list (literally, I wrote it all out on a chalkboard!) and this is on there. But I keep forgetting to look up what's playing. Looks so super nice!
Do it! So fun.
I love that people danced along to the movie. I've watched movies at Grant Park in Chicago and I loved it; all I needed was a beach towel and some snacks. The only thing was that I always ended up sitting behind people with enormous beach chairs.
Oh, bummer.
Your husband is so handsome! Lucky you!
Oh yeah, I love NYC!
Why, thank you! I think so too.
I just went to Willy Wonka last night at Brooklyn Bridge Park and read your post this morning, what a fun coincidence! Everyone cheered when Charlie found his golden ticket. The weather wasn't ideal, but it didn't start raining until the very end of the movie.
So sweet! We wimped out with the weather!
that is awesome! i love that everyone got up and danced. there are loads of movies in the park in minneapolis, but sadly we haven't made it to any this year. and i'm thinking with the impending arrival of a newborn in our life, we'll just have to take the year off…
