my week in objects (mostly).

September 12, 2014

five little things that made my week:

1. more postcards from my mom.
postcards {because: “sometimes you round a bend in the middle of nowhere and suddenly happen upon a pretty house, you know? and, on occasion, it makes you think, hunh, damned if i didn’t forget to put ‘castle’ on my wedding registry.”}

2. this starry dish towel.
towel {because it arrived from the netherlands from one of the amazing sponsors that keeps this blog running.}

3. these gloves.
gloves {for helping me with what is, perhaps, the craziest DIY i’ve ever attempted. stay tuned.}

4. this radio.
radio {for all of the reasons you’d expect, but mostly for getting to know how all of you first boogied (psst: the giveaway closes tonight at 5:00 pm ET).}

5. this book.
book {for so many good ideas.}

other things:
women in tech.
8 words, 1 city.
obsessed. watch out.
more boyle wisdom.
herby goodness.
crib hunting.

things by me in other places:
little black dress wire.
the tender days after i was a birth warrior.

    ha! your mom is a hoot.

    in light of your recent sister posts and links, i would love to read more about growing up in a house of girls, sister relationships, any hopes/wishes of the sort you may have for faye, etc., if you are willing to share. i was an only child until i was 10 (when a brother was born) and a little women scenario was my dream 🙂 anyway, your anecdotes are always so thoughtful – thanks so much for what you do share!

    Oh, right. The castle. I can't believe I forgot to put it on the registry.

    Thanks for the belly laugh! Your mom sounds wonderful. 🙂

    Receiving a postcard is such a lovely moment, I'm off to the seaside next week and the thought of buying and writing the postcard actually is part of the excitement! 🙂 I think that book needs to be on my wish list!

    "The Home Apothecary" sounds amazing. What's the best tip you've found so far?

      There's a section where it lists out the properties and uses of a huge list of essential oils. So helpful!

    I just started reading your blog and as a fellow mom in a tiny Brooklyn apartment, i feel the need to tell you that if I could do it all over again, I'd get a mini crib. A full sized one is too big, and they convert to full sized beds, which, I'm sorry, but we just don't have space for. A mini crib converts to a twin sized bed later on.

      Will definitely keep that in mind!
