a simple matters giveaway.

simple matters + brahms mount | reading my tea leaves
It’s a cruel irony that in this corner of the world at least, the New Year begins at precisely the moment when some of us most want to hibernate until the daffodils come out.

In acknowledgement that sometimes what we most need to do in January is to crawl under the covers to moan and whimper and sometimes what we need to do is straighten the bedsheets and get to work, I’ve decided to kick off 2017 with a little giveaway of my book and a very favorite blanket. In celebration of Simple Matters’ one year anniversary, I’m hopeful that the book will inspire a bit of action in the New Year and that the blanket will provide a soft landing spot once the work’s finished (or even just begun). simple matters + brahms mount | reading my tea leaves

Brahms Mount, the wonderful mill in Maine that makes the Cotton Ticking Stripe Blanket that we keep on our bed (and that’s pictured on the cover of Simple Matters), is generously contributing the blanket portion of the giveaway. I’m wrapping up a signed copy of my book Simple Matters along with a few other tiny treats for wintry nesting. All you need to do is sign up for my newsletter by filling out the form embedded below.

With enormous thanks as always for supporting my work in this space, I’m wishing you all a very merry January, because really, why should December get all the good cheer?

Open to all readers. Giveaway closes on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 11:59 pm ET. One randomly selected winner will be contacted directly and will get to choose a ticking stripe blanket in the size and color of their choice. (For the curious: We own a queen-sized blanket in slate!).

I’ve been eyeing your book for a year, and have always admired your beautiful blanket! With all that there is for us to take care of in the coming months, we sure could use some motivation, warmth, and simplicity. Wishing your sweet family the best as you prepare for your new little one!

Ooh I’ve been wanting a blanket like that for ages, thank you so much for running this giveaway – what a lovely idea! Fingers crossed. Really love your book Erin (I already have a copy) but it would be extra special to get a signed copy, and then I can pass mine onto my sister, who’s also recently taking up a simple living approach!

Hi Erin, I have been reading your posts for some years now including those for Remodelista. I especially loved the one on your simple wedding! The giveaway is so generous. Your book is here in Melbourne, Australia in many bookshops! The blanket is also a perfect way to start the year in a Melbourne summer! Happy 2017!

    • Reply ERIN BOYLE January 5, 2017 at 2:29 pm

Decided to cover the (hefty) shipping cost myself for this one 😉

      • Reply Sophie January 5, 2017 at 6:34 pm

Entering from New Zealand, so a rather larger shipping cost! I’d be happy to help out though if I won 🙂

        • Reply ERIN BOYLE January 5, 2017 at 7:05 pm

So sweet of you to say! Happy to cover shipping, though of course if there are other tariffs levied on the receiving end, I’d need the winner to pay for those!

  • Reply Kari January 5, 2017 at 2:18 pm

Also, I have four confirmed entry check marks, but the counter says I have only three entries. The counter number didn’t change when I did the Facebook following. Is there any way of fixing that?

    • Reply ERIN BOYLE January 5, 2017 at 2:29 pm

No way of fixing it, but not a problem. The Twitter and Facebook likes don’t show up on the counter for some reason!

  • Reply Eva January 5, 2017 at 2:23 pm

This is so lovely Erin! Been eyeing that blanket ever since I seen you have it on your blog. It seems perfect. Like many others I have enjoyed your book and reread it during Christmas. It sparked the cleaning in me again and keeps me motivated to keep things simple and appreciate what I have already.

I’ve been looking for a blanket for more than a year, just cannot make up my mind. This would certainly help.

Sadly, it’s probably not possible to enter outside the US, or is it?

    • Reply ERIN BOYLE January 5, 2017 at 7:03 pm

Mentioned above that it’s open to all readers 😉

      • Reply JP January 6, 2017 at 5:50 pm

Amazing! I realize I do not consider myself ‘all’ when I read American blogs, apparently I am not as cosmopolitan as I like to think I am.

  • Reply sophie January 5, 2017 at 6:59 pm

Is this competition open to those outside the US ?

As your book sits in my Amazon cart (I have hoped to come across it locally first), I do hope I get to read it via a win! Of course, I will still purchase it for gifting. 😉 I am also in BK so know all too well how good books (and good blankets) help on those very-over-it cold days. Thank you for celebrating the new year with us in this way! Happy 2017, Erin!

Catching up on my reading as I cuddle with kids and cats on the sofa, it’s a bone-chilling -30C tonight. Your lovely blanket would be most welcome, though I’m afraid I’ll have to share. Thank you for your thoughtful offer. Your site and presence on social media have been a comfort this past year. Best wishes for 2017, Erin!

We are in the opposite position: a new independent bookstore just opened in Boone, NC. It has a book group and an Advanced Reader Club and a knowledgeable owner. Small but wonderful!

When I lived in Maine, the nearest bookstore was over an hour away, in Portland. Still, Maine is a magical place to live or visit. I was excited to learn that your blanket is from a Maine company that I’d be very happy to support. Thanks for putting it on my radar screen. And for the opportunity to spread the RMTL love with a copy of your book. Great give-away!
