That “Big Funeral” article! So infuriating and heartbreaking! Years ago I did a stint as an attendant at a rural funeral home that had recently been taken over by a national corporate chain, and I remember my boss smirking, “The recession has been good for the business.” Meanwhile the other attendants were in their eighties and pretty open that they were only working there to pay for their own (upcoming) funerals!
