It’s a cruel irony that in this corner of the world at least, the New Year begins at precisely the moment when some of us most want to hibernate until the daffodils come out.
In acknowledgement that sometimes what we most need to do in January is to crawl under the covers to moan and whimper and sometimes what we need to do is straighten the bedsheets and get to work, I’ve decided to kick off 2017 with a little giveaway of my book and a very favorite blanket. In celebration of Simple Matters’ one year anniversary, I’m hopeful that the book will inspire a bit of action in the New Year and that the blanket will provide a soft landing spot once the work’s finished (or even just begun). 
Brahms Mount, the wonderful mill in Maine that makes the Cotton Ticking Stripe Blanket that we keep on our bed (and that’s pictured on the cover of Simple Matters), is generously contributing the blanket portion of the giveaway. We are in the opposite position: a new independent bookstore just opened in Boone, NC. It has a book group and an Advanced Reader Club and a knowledgeable owner. Small but wonderful!
When I lived in Maine, the nearest bookstore was over an hour away, in Portland. Still, Maine is a magical place to live or visit.
