wonder and weather reports.

December 9, 2009

i was going to turn these gratuitous shots of snow into a my downtown post, but it turns out i have too much to say, and i’m not really blogging according to my regularly scheduled programming right now anyway.snow5i woke up this morning to a blanket of fresh white snow and my twenty-five year old heart nearly stopped beating. suddenly i was seven years old again, running up the stairs to the loft to peer out of the attic windows at my neighborhood, transformed. i don’t care how much you might hate dealing with a winter of snow and ice, there is nothing as beautiful as a fresh snow fall in the early morning. the way the light inside changes, and how you know, before even opening a curtain, that something is changed. the way the street looks, all white, with no tire tracks. the way the tree branches hang, droopy under the weight of the snow. wonder.snow2 snow4 snow1as far as i’m concerned, these early morning moments are as good a reason as any never to check the weather report.snow6snow3wishing you all cozy days. i promise i’ll be coming back soon. just one more week left now.

lovely! it's a square dance, isn't it? Here near the sea it is pouring rain, so, as for me, I shall go driving to the snowflakes…

Gorgeous! Makes me jealous (although I'm a hothouse flower due to growing up in SoCal and I would probably die in the snow).

The first snow…I love the way it rests on the leafless tree branches. So beautiful. I'm missing my years of living where it snows, especially the experience of seeing the first snow of the year.

    Your photos are gorgeous!

We are completely snowed under here and in the deep freeze. It is all about thick tights, cozy scarves, lots of cuppas and fleece sheets! While the roads are layered with ice and snow, it is a gorgeous ride to work! I hope you get some more flakes to take lovely shots of!
